Angry over lack of development work in their areas, villagers of Aminabad and Shekhpura in Nahtaur constituency had initially decided not to cast their votes. "No development has taken place in my village. Most of the roads are in a bad shape, they are kuchcha roads. We have approached politicians and the authorities urging them to build new roads and repair the existing ones but to no avail. It becomes very difficult for us to commute during rainy season,” said

There was enthusiasm among the voters as they came out to exercise their right to franchise. Women, too, came out in large numbers bringing their children along to the polling centres. Sarita who was with her six-month-old child, said, “We get the opportunity to vote and change the system after every five years. We should not miss the opportunity, otherwise the system will remain stagnant.”
Lakhs of youths also voted for the first time this election. Talking to TOI, Pranjul, a resident of Madhusudanpur village, said, “I voted for the first time in my life, I am happy to have. I hope my vote will play a role in bringing political and economic changes in our area”

Voting started at 7 am and ended at 5 pm. According to data, in the 2012 assembly polls, the average polling percentage was 65.6% in Bijnor district.
