PM’s remarks draw criticism from KPCC chief
Mangaluru: KPCC president and MLC Manjunath Bhandary criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his recent remarks, describing them as 'childish' and added that the people of the country did not expect such statements from a Prime Minister.
Bhandary said the country was already facing severe economic pressure, with commercial LPG prices rising sharply, industries struggling under inflation and warnings emerging over possible fertiliser shortages. “In such a situation, the PM's comments only push the public into greater uncertainty," he said.
He further stated that during times of global economic instability, it is the responsibility of any country’s central govt to reassure its citizens and instil confidence, rather than create confusion and anxiety.
Meanwhile, Harish Kumar termed the Prime Minister's remarks 'irresponsible' for a person holding the country's highest office. He pointed out that commercial LPG prices had increased steeply and the cost of essential commodities had already burdened common people.
“On one hand, the PM speaks about promoting Atmanirbhar Bharat, the automobile industry and industrial growth, while on the other hand, he advises people to limit vehicle usage," Harish Kumar said. He alleged that advising people against buying gold would severely affect the jewellery sector and questioned who would take responsibility for the losses suffered by the industry.
Describing the remarks as immature, he accused the Union govt of pushing the country deeper into economic distress.
