Mom who left dead newborn in toilet found
Udupi: Malpe police traced the mother of the newborn baby, whose body was found in the toilet of a building near Jamiya Masjid in Malpe police station limits. SP Arun K said that the baby belonged to Afrina, who hails from the area. She allegedly tried to abort her pregnancy without following the medical termination procedure. As a result, she developed a stomach ache and delivered a stillborn.She was over seven months pregnant. After the delivery, she left the baby in the toilet and left. The woman has been hospitalised. Once discharged, legal action will be taken against her, the SP said.Further, the SP said that audio clippings are being shared on various social media platforms related to the incident. He appealed to people not to spread rumours, and warned that legal action will be taken against those who spread fake news.It may be recalled that the Malpe police launched a probe after the body of a newborn was found in a toilet on Monday. In a complaint, the manager of the Jamia Masjid stated that when he entered the toilet, he discovered a newborn baby lying inside. Bloodstains were also observed on the inner wall of the toilet.
