‘Implement all poll guarantees sans rider’

Mangaluru: D Vedavyas Kamath, Mangaluru City South MLA, has urged the state government to implement the guarantee schemes that Congress had promised in its election manifesto without applying any conditions. “The party had promised to implement the pre-poll guarantees within 24 hours of coming to power but has failed to do so,” he alleged. Kamath told reporters on Monday that there is no clarity on the guarantee schemes and their implementation is delayed unnecessarily. “It is owing to the delay in the implementation of the schemes, incidents of assault of meter readers and altercation with KSRTC conductors are being reported in the state. By bringing in conditions for the implementation of guarantee schemes, the government is cheating the people. It is to divert the attention of the people from guarantee schemes, the government has raised the issue of textbook revision. Through textbook revision, it is engaged in vote bank politics,” he said. The MLA accused the government of attempting to divide people by lines of communities. “Instances of hate politics are on the rise. BJP workers are attacked. Pro-Pakistan slogans are being raised. Strict action must be taken against miscreants indulged in such acts. Congress is trying to create disturbance in the state by raking up the sentiments of the people. Several rain-related mishaps have occurred in various parts of the state but Congress is busy with power sharing. The enthusiasm shown towards cabinet formation is not shown in administration,’’ he alleged.He also sought to know whether Bajrang Dal activists were engaged in any anti-national activities to ban them. “Congress is issuing statements on the ban only for political gain,” he claimed.He condemned chief minister Siddaramaiah and other Congress leaders’ action of opposing Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya taking oath in the name of “Sathyasaramani Daiva.” “Where was Siddaramaiah when some MLAs took oath in the name of DK Shivakumar,” he questioned.
