Ludhiana: Sukhdev Singh Sirsa was elected the president of Punjabi Sahit Akademy for a second consecutive term on Sunday, defeating his opponent Kashmiri Lal Chawla by 455 votes.
While Sirsa got 559 votes, Chawla got only muster 104 votes. For the post of senior vice-president, Anup Singh defeated Kuldip Singh Bedi by 6 votes. Also, five vice-presidents and 15 executive members were elected.
Surjit Singh was elected unopposed as the general secretary. Of the 1,400 members of Punjabi Sahit Akademy, 669 members voted this year.
