Family bids farewell to youth killed in US

Times News NetworkLudhiana: Family members of a youth who allegedly died of a bullet injury in the United States bid a tearful to him during his last rites at his native village of Bhamma Kalan in Machhiwara area, which was also enveloped in a pall of gloom. Barely 22, Jasdeep Singh Jassu lived in Fresnel, California.Sources said that Jasdeep Singh, only son of farmer Daljit Singh Mangat, had gone to the US five years ago as his maternal uncle also lived there. He worked as a truck driver.Family members said that on January 3, he left his house in a car. On the way, he was on video call with his parents and grandmother. Suddenly, the phone got switched off and the worried family informed his uncle. Jasdeep was later found dead in the car with a bullet in his head.Sources said that his maternal uncle reached the village with his body after 24 days. Parents of the deceased paid their last respects to their son as his dead body was cremated. Family members said that they did not know much about what could have prompted the crime. Sources said that Jasdeep was a green card holder in the US, who had to return to his village after about five and a half years in March. They added that he was very excited about the trip and had bought gifts for the family.
