Athletics meet kicks off at GNPS

LUDHIANA: The 40th inter-house annual athletics meet commenced at Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, on Thursday. Students of four houses carried out a well synchronized march past.
This was followed by the unfurling of the school flag. Thereafter, Jugaadbir Singh, Sports Captain, administered the oath to the athletes.
On this occasion, the students of primary section presented a cultural bonanza.The members of 'Baba Banda Singh Bahadur International Gatka Akhara' also presented a spectacular gatka performance.
The events included fun races for kindergarten students, shot put, long jump, 800m, 600m, 400m and relay races.
The trophy for 'Best in March Past' was bagged by Professor Mohan Singh House. In 800m race, Jappanjot Singh stood first, Manjot Singh was second and Jobanjit Singh came third in above-14 boys' category. In 400m race, Taraneet Kaur was first, Ramaninder Kaur stood second and Aishwin Kaur won third prize in above-14 girls.
In 600m race in under-14 girls, Mehreen Kaur, Harjap Kaur, Hrmandeep Kaur bagged first, second and third prize, respectively.
Bismandeep Singh stood first in 400m race in under-14 boys. Harjap Kaur was first in long jump in under-14 girls, Parmeet Singh bagged gold in long jump in above-14 boys. Armaandeep Kaur stood first in long jump in above-14 girls. Harpuneet Kaur came first in 60m hurdles in under-14 girls, Harpal Singh won first prize long jump in under-14 boys.
