He married Indira in 1942 at a ceremony held in Anand Bhawan.
After the birth of Rajiv Gandhi In 1944 and Sanjay Gandhi in 1946, Indira and Feroze settled in Allahabad. Feroze later became the editor of National Herald, a newspaper founded by his father-in-law, Jawaharlal Nehru.
He suffered the first heart attack in 1958 and subsequently died in 1960 of a second heart attack.
Though his daughter-in-law and Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, had recently extended a monetary help of Rs one lakh for the maintenance of the grave, it failed to bring any turnaround in the fate of the place, which is still preferred by locals as a garbage dumping ground.
