Uttar Pradesh to train youth for green economy under UPCAMP collaboration
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Clean Air Management Project (UPCAMP) on Wednesday signed memoranda of understanding (MoU) with 15 Regional Knowledge Centres to train thousands of youths in green skills over the next five years, aiming to link sustainable development with employment generation.Backed by the World Bank, the initiative seeks to create a skilled workforce while strengthening the capacity of govt departments, urban local bodies and communities to address climate and environmental challenges, officials said.The MoUs were signed at the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change in the presence of Principal Secretary V Hekali Zhimomi. UPCAMP CEO B Chandrakala signed the agreements with participating institutions, including Aligarh Muslim University, Banaras Hindu University, Bundelkhand University, Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee and Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Prayagraj.Officials said the collaboration will focus on capacity building, developing a green-skilled workforce and promoting research and innovation through the regional centres. Regular training programmes and workshops for officials and civic bodies are also planned.UPCAMP Deputy CEO Mohammad Rahib outlined implementation strategies, highlighting the programme’s role in preparing Uttar Pradesh for a green economy and strengthening clean air management efforts.
