This year, APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University to award most PhDs

LUCKNOW: Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University will award the highest number of PhD degrees this year in its 17-year history.
On its convocation on December 12, the technical university will confer doctorates on 86 students, the maximum number so far.
“Only in 2014 did the number of students receiving PhD cross 50. This year, the number of students has increased by almost 50%,” said dean of PG studies and research Karm Veer Arya.Every year, an average of 45 students receive PhD degrees. This year, 54 men and 32 women will get doctorates.
“The reason for the rise in the number of PhDs is the demand of quality teachers by recognized institutions,” said .
According to vice-chancellor Vinay Kumar Pathak, “The university has taken an initiative to promote quality research. This has increased the number of enrolments. This year, the number of boys winning medals and getting degrees has improved as well.” The university will award medals to 64 meritorious students.
