Teacher trainers to get ptsfor promotion, increments

Lucknow: If you are an in-service teacher trainer in Uttar Pradesh, you will now have to ‘earn’ points for promotion in job or increment in salary.Introducing appraisals on lines of corporate houses, UP’s basic education department has set 25 parameters for principals of district institute of education and training (DIET) based on their work performance. In the assessment form, DIET principals will have to provide information on both academic and administrative indicators totalling 100 points. Based on the performance, DIETs will be graded in four categories. Those scoring between 80 and 100 will be categorised as Utkrisht (A grade) followed by Ati Uttam (B grade) for scorers between 70 and 79 and Uttam (C grade) for scorers between 60 and 69. Those scoring below 60 will be considered as satisfactory/needs improvement. Principals will be marked on creation of NIPUN cell and conducting regular review meetings with education officials on attaining NIPUN goals and percentage (against a target of 100) of schools earning NIPUN tag. Ten points will be awarded if all 100 schools have attained NIPUN tag. In case of 75 schools, seven points will be given while five points will be given for meeting 50% target.The other academic parameters include field inspection of govt schools, implementation of academic calendar, innovation bank, developing e-content/videos, establishment of science and maths lab, percentage of trainees who qualify Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). On the administrative front, indicators such as strengthening, training, research and innovation; and revamp and transformation of DIETs based on the gap analysis have been included in the appraisal.
