‘SP not given draft voters’ roll in 30 dists’

Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party (SP) has demanded action from the Chief Electoral Officer pointing out that the party was not provided with the draft roll (voters’ roll) published on November 9 in over 30 districts of UP.Party’s state president Naresh Uttam Patel in a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer alleged that the party was not informed of the names which were added or stricken out from the list as per the standard procedure.Patel said the list of draft roll (voters’ list) was not provided to the SP and other political parties in Etah, Hathras, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Jalaun, Lalitpur, Bhadohi, Mau, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Basti, Amethi, Lucknow, Hardoi, Badaun, Pilibhit, Meerut, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Noida, Baghpat, Saharanpur and other districts.“The electoral registration officers (ERO) did not display the information on the notice board of the large number of names that were deducted from the voters’ list, the names which were added, the names which were modified,” alleged Patel.The SP alleged that according to the information received, the prescribed Form-7 which is used for deducting names from the voters’ list was not filled by the voters, no information was given to the voters while their names were removed, and no notice was pasted outside their homes.
