Residents flag unauthorised changes in mobile numbers on LMC tax records
Lucknow: Several residents have reported that mobile numbers linked to house tax records in the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) are being changed without their knowledge, affecting online payments and alerts.
They alleged that they were not receiving OTPs and payment notifications, forcing them to visit zonal offices for correction.
Himanshi Singh of New Haiderganj-III (Zone-6) said her registered number was changed, and she did not receive payment alerts.
“I regularly pay tax online, but this time no alert or OTP came. At the zonal office, I found another number linked to my property,” she said.
Ram Sanehi Devi of Rastogi Nagar, Balaganj, faced a similar issue. Family members said alerts stopped this year despite their number being updated earlier.
“After checking records, we found the phone number was changed,” a family member said.
In Aliganj, Rajeev Saxena of Sector-B said he could not log in as OTPs were sent to an unknown number. “I had to visit the office to get it restored,” he said.
Sunita Verma of Jankipuram Extension also reported not receiving reminders despite regular payments. “Later, I found another number reflecting on my account,” she said.
Municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar said: “If anyone is facing such issues, they must contact us. I will examine and take action if there are any errors on behalf of LMC staff.”
