Lucknow: The nine Lucknow Metro stations on the 11km stretch between KD Singh Babu Stadium and Munshipulia Chauraha will be named on the basis of their locations-KD Singh Babu Stadium, Lucknow University road, IT College, Mahanagar Station, Badshahnagar, Lekhraj Market, Faizabad Road, Indiranagar and Munshipulia intersection.
Construction of the nine metro stations was approved by the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) and its principal advisor E Sreedharan.
Last date for submission of bids for construction of underground metro route from Charbagh to KD Singh Babu stadium is February 11. The total length of the North-South corridor is 22.88 km with 19 elevated and three underground stations. In the first phase, 8km stretch from Alambagh to Charbagh is being constructed. The second phase, constriction of which is scheduled from from May, will cover the stretch from Charbagh to KD Singh Babu stadium. The second phase includes three underground stations-Hussainganj, Sachivalaya and Hazartganj.
"A ramp will be constructed to connect Hazratganj underground station to the elevated stretch connecting Babu stadium to Munshipulia," said LMRC officials. "All nine stations on this stretch will be elevated. The shortest distance in this route is from Mahanagar to Badshah nagar (0.673kms), whereas distance between Indira Nagar and Munshipullia station is 1.56km and KD Singh Babu and University of Lucknow 1.48km," they added.
In the meet to review progress of Lucknow Metro, LMRC managing director Kumar Keshav said, "Bid documents for civil work of elevated section from KD Singh Babu Stadium to Munshipulia have been sent to external loan providing agency for consent."
