More than 100 IAS, IPS shifted in a week

Continuing with the spate of mass transfers before the notification for the Lok Sabha elections, the UP government on Thursday shifted 13 IAS and 18 IPS officers, taking the total number to over 100 within one week.

LUCKNOW: Continuing with the spate of mass transfers before the notification for the Lok Sabha elections, the UP government on Thursday shifted 13 IAS and 18 IPS officers, taking the total number to over 100 within one week. On Thursday, the government reshuffled two deputy inspectors general and 5 district police chiefs. In the IAS officers' category, the state ordered fresh appointments to the posts of divisional commissioners for Varanasi and Chitrakoot.

District magistrates of Bhadoi and Hapur were also shuffled on Thursday.
Among others, IAS officer Mukul Singhal was divested of the charge of small scale industry and export promotion. In Singhal's place, Mahesh Kumar Gupta was appointed principal secretary. Among the IPS officers, Mathura DIG Gulab Singh was transferred to Jhansi in the same capacity, DIG Sanjay Kakkar, who was awaiting posting and attached to DGP Headquarters was posted as DIG of the Varanasi Range - a post that was lying vacant since the last reshuffle.
At the district police chief level, SP (intelligence) Virendra Bahadur Singh, who was posted at Lucknow headquarters of the department has now been moved to Kanpur (Dehat) as SP. His counterpart at the CB CID headquarters, Saalim Ram, will now be the new SP of Shrawasti. Besides, Gonda SP Rajendra Prasad Yadav has swapped places with Bahraich SP Mohit Gupta.
