Lucknow: The KGMU Teachers’ Association has urged state govt to intervene in the alleged assault and chain-snatching incident involving senior urologist Prof Vivek Kumar Singh, demanding immediate registration of an FIR and a fair investigation.
In a letter to additional chief secretary, home, the association said the incident occurred on May 31 evening when Prof Singh was driving towards BBAU. His car collided with another, leading to an altercation with occupants of the vehicle. They allegedly assaulted him and snatched a gold chain weighing about 20 grams.
Association president Prof KK Singh said Prof Singh sustained injuries and was admitted to the KGMU Trauma Centre.
Prof Singh's wife, Dr Vijeta Singh, submitted a written complaint at Aashiana police station. However, the association alleged that no FIR has been registered on her complaint so far, while a case has been lodged on the complaint of the other party involved in the dispute.
Indian Medical Association president Dr Manoj Kumar Asthana demanded registration of an FIR under appropriate sections and strict action in connection with the alleged assault, robbery and misconduct.
