Income tax raids conducted on SP MLC Santosh Yadav's firms

LUCKNOW: In a first crackdown on a politician in UP after the demonetization move was announced a month ago, the income tax department conducted search operations on the establishments of Samajwadi Party’s MLC Santosh Yadav alias Sunny.

According to I-T department sources, the search was conducted after getting a tip-off that

had given two months’ advance salary in cash to the employees who work in his firm which supplies human resources.

Considered close to chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, Sunny hails from Basti and was given the legislative council ticket in place of the son of former SP minister Rakesh Kishore Singh. His firm

Apna Group

has been given contracts to supply manpower to various UP government departments.

The I-T team reached the Apna Group office at MG Marg on Saturday afternoon and the company officials and employees were being interrogated till the filing of this report.
