High-end technology to help trains beat fog delay
LUCKNOW: If you are planning a
On display is a vehicular control unit (VCU) system developed by a US-based company. It will help Indian railways improve signalling to help navigate trains during fog by giving precise situation of trains on a single track.
Rajendra Mohan, representative of the firm, said that, “VCU works on electromagnetic compatible signal monitoring technology. A monitoring equipment installed in tracks will send report to control room about the distance of approaching station, gap between two trains on one track and about any object on track. A signalling equipment will be installed in train engine which will send current location data. The two equipments will send report to control room which will guide loco pilot during dense fog. The system will aalso help avert train collision or derailment.
Another technology on display is Fibre Optic Acoustic Track Monitoring System, developed by Siemens in coordination with RDSO. The optic fibre will be laid along the track and a server will be installed in the engine which will be connected to control room. The fibre will monitor track and send track condition report every second. A technical team will be depute to handle any fracture, displacement or pits on track under smart rail monitoring system.
Globally used equipment, Eutalloy Powder Spray Gun used to repair tracks is also on display. It can repair track fracture and pits within few minutes.
Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO) director general Virendra Kumar said railway would use the highend technology on display to improve and ensure safety and comfort of passengers.
