Inauguration on June 17

Strategic route alignment

The expressway originates near Jaitpur on National Highway 27 in Gorakhpur and connects to the Purvanchal Expressway at Salarpur in Azamgarh. This alignment is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity and reduce congestion on existing routes.

3/7

Massive infrastructure investment

Spanning 91.35 kilometers and constructed at a cost of Rs 7,283.28 crore, the expressway is one of the Yogi government’s key infrastructure projects. It has been built with world-class specifications to support long-term growth and development.

4/7

Key districts benefitted

The expressway will directly benefit four districts: Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, and Azamgarh. By enhancing inter-district connectivity, the route is expected to ease transportation, support local economies, and improve access to essential services.

5/7

Faster travel to Lucknow

Once operational, the expressway will cut down the travel time between Gorakhpur and Lucknow to just three and a half hours via the Purvanchal Expressway. This will make commuting faster and more efficient for both personal and commercial vehicles.

6/7

Planned industrial corridor

In addition to transportation benefits, plans are underway to develop an industrial corridor along the expressway. The corridor is expected to attract investments in sectors such as agriculture, commerce, tourism, and manufacturing, providing a boost to the local economy.

7/7

Focus on sustainability

The Gorakhpur Link Expressway stands as a model of the state's commitment to sustainable and energy-efficient infrastructure. By saving fuel, reducing travel time, and cutting emissions, the expressway also acts as a strategic logistics corridor connecting Eastern Uttar Pradesh to national markets including the National Capital Region (NCR).
