Daughter of murdered couple seeks speedy justice

Lucknow: Accusing her husband of killing her parents right in front of her, Poonam demanded death penalty for her husband Jagdeep and appealed to authorities to transfer the case to a fast-track court in Lucknow, on Saturday. On July 2, retired govt employee Anant Ram and his wife Asha Devi were murdered allegedly by their son-in-law, when he visited their house on the pretext of meeting his son. Concealing a knife in his bag, he allegedly slit the throats of both Anant Ram and Asha Devi, in front of his wife who had living with her parents after a dispute with him. On Friday, cremation of the elderly couple took place at VIP Road's Baikunth Dham. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Cantonment Abhay Pratap Mall confirmed that police had been deployed outside Poonam's residence for protection. The murder weapon was sent to the forensic lab and police said a chargesheet would be filed as soon as the FSL report was received.
