Cops outnumbered by protesters

LUCKNOW: The policemen, it looked, were outnumbered by agitators present at Shaheed Smarak. Around 20,000 MNREGS workers were staging a protest at Shaheed Smarak.
Even if district magistrate Anil Sagar's claim that two-third of the agitating members had left after the delegation's meeting with the government, the agitators' number was such that the cops initially had to run for shelter from stone-pelting mob.
The police could actually take action against the unruly mob only after adequate police force, along with DIG D K Thakur, reached the spot. However, the police officials claimed that the police force was in adequate number and added that situation turned worse as the cops failed to gauge the violent mood of the agitators.
