LUCKNOW: A special investigation team (SIT) of Lucknow police on Friday filed a charge-sheet against former minister Gayatri Prajapati and six others, in a case of rape.

said the SIT found charges levelled against

Prajapati

and his six aides to be prima facie true.

A Chitrakoot-based woman corporator had accused Prajapati and his aides of raping her and sexually assaulting her minor daughter. The FIRs against Prajapati and his six aides were registered on February 18.

The other accused are Chandrapal, Ashok Tewari, Rupesh, Vikas Verma, Amerandra Singh and Ashish Shukla. Prajapati was arrested on March 15 and granted bail on April 25.

The bail was stayed by the sessions court. The former minis ter is still in jail.

The SIT headed by circle officer of Chowk Radhey by circle officer of Chowk Radhey Shyam Rai was formed on the directions of the then IG and DIG on April 29.

Rai told TOI that the call detail records and evidences of sequence of events as alleged by the survivor in the FIR were correct.

The accused were present at the place where the gang-rape took place. The survivor had said she was introduced to the minister three years ago at his official residence at 5, Gautam Palli by his close aide Ashok Tewari.

During her meetings with the minister, Prajapati offered to allot her a licence for sand mining. At one meeting, she was served tea laced with sedatives and thereafter raped.Objectionable photos of her were also clicked. “We have submitted our report to the court and now it will decide the fate of Prajapati and his six others,“ Rai told TOI.
