Police seal hotels in Guru Nanak Market on Thursday
LUCKNOW: Four more hotels in Guru Nanak Market were sealed on Thursday for violating building and fire safety norms while others in Naka and Charbagh were given 15 days’ notice to comply with standards. The decision was taken two days after a massive fire killed six persons and gutted two hotels in Guru Nanak Market, Charbagh, on Tuesday.
ASP (west) Vikas Tripathi said that four of the six hotels served notice on Wednesday for non-compliance of norms were sealed on Thursday because they were still operational despite orders of city magistrate.

Two hotels had evacuated all the guests and claimed that they have certificates and sought time for producing them.
The hotels sealed on Thursday were Hotel Metro Inn, situated next to Viraat Hotel; Hotel Kaveri located in front of SSJ International, Amit Lodge and Sanjay Lodge.
Separate teams of LDA, LESA, Nagar Nigam, Fire and administration carried out inspection of hotels in Charbagh, Naka and Hazratganj area.
Earlier in the day, a delegation of hoteliers from Naka and Charbagh met the District Magistrate and sought some time to renew pending NOCs of fire and registration under the Sarai Act 1867.
Lucknow DM Kaushal Raj Sharma said that 15 days’ time has been given to the hoteliers to obtain and produce all required certificates.
Sharma said that all hotels which haven’t been able to produce certificate will stop booking of customers. “Any hotel which continues to take bookings without showing required certificates will be sealed,” said Sharma.
