KOLKATA: The CBI on Tuesday summoned Trinamool Congress MP Sultan Ahmed in connection with the Narada sting operation probe and asked him to appear before them on Wednesday. Ahmed, who is not likely to appear before the investigating agency's Nizam Palace office on the said date, has sought a few days' time.

"I am ready to cooperate with the agency. But I have some prior commitments which cannot be rescheduled. So I have sought two-three days' time," he said. Ahmed, according to Samuel, had allegedly taken cash from him promising help in future.

During the day, ED interrogated IPS officer SMH Mirza for seven long hours. Mirza reortedly claimed he had been trying to impress Samuel and get some more donations.

"He did not deny meeting Samuel and taking money from him, but said that it was a donation for a social cause," said an ED official.

According to sources, Mirza had earlier told CBI investigators that his wife runs an orphanage and he was trying to gather donations for that.

Kolkata Police

meanwhile interrogated Samuel at the Muchipra police stations for around eight hours on Tuesday in connection to the extortion calls made to former Bihar

MP D P Yadav.

While the main accused in the case is still at large, police are trying to find out if the accused had worked with Samuel in the past.

After he was summoned by Kolkata Police again on Wednesday, Samuel said that it was just harassment and he would go on

hunger strike

against this. "They are harassing me and asking the same set of questions. There is nothing new that they want to know. I will now seek legal help to tackle the issue," he said.
