My political career now in hands of CM, says Samarjeetsinh Ghatge
Kolhapur: Samarjeetsinh Ghatge, while addressing a gathering on Wednesday after re-joining the BJP at the party's state headquarters in Mumbai, said his political career now is in the hands of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis."Whatever he (Fadnavis) says, things will happen accordingly. All political experiments have been done. Hereon, there will be no new experiments," Samarjeetsinh said, hinting that he will not leave the BJP just like he did just before 2024 assembly election and joined NCP(SP) to contest the assembly election from the Kagal constituency. In the assembly election, Ghatge was defeated for the second time by NCP's strongman Hasan Mushrif."The process to re-join BJP started when Fadnavis asked me to join hands with minister Mushrif for the local body elections. Then in the ZP elections my supporters contested on the BJP ticket and it was just a formality to re-join the BJP," Samarjeetsinh said. However, the key question that Ghatge has evaded before and after joining is whether he will get the MLC seat or will be the BJP's ticket for next assembly or Lok Sabha elections.
Answers to these questions are important as in the 2019 assembly election, Ghatge had to contest independently as BJP did not give him a ticket even though he was district president of the party. The seat was left for the undivided Shiv Sena to contest against Mushrif. This time, the third key person in Kagal, Sanjay Ghatge, is also in the BJP. Though he is unlikely to contest, his son Ambrish may seek a ticket from BJP and then Samarjeetsinh will have to ensure to get a seat for BJP and secondly get a ticket for himself.
