Kolhapur: Two youths from Solapur district, including a Bachelor of Business Administration student and a Class IX boy, died by suicide in the past three days in separate incidents.
In the first case, the BBA student from Mohol town was found dead, hanging in his room in an apartment owned by his father on Saturday morning. According to the complaint registered at the Mohol police station, the student wanted a new smartphone, but his father told him he would get him one once he had money. The student's mobile phone had been damaged for nine days. The family had dinner together on Friday night. On Saturday morning, they found their son hanging.
In the second incident, in Ule Kasegaon village in South Solapur tehsil, a Class IX student left unwillingly for his father's field after his father told him to water the field before leaving for the village fair. The boy wanted to go to the fair with his friends, who were waiting on a motorcycle to pick him up. After some time, the farmer sent his elder son to check on him. The elder son found his brother hanging from a metal angle in a tin shed in the field. The deceased was a wrestler and had recently topped a district-level competition and was aiming for a chance to compete at a state-level event.
