Cut-off scores for science & commerce streams drop by 1% in Kolhapur district

Kolhapur: As many as 5.74 lakh students were given allotments in the first merit list for admissions to first-year junior colleges (FYJC) across Maharashtra on Friday. The allotment list was announced by Centralised Admission Process (CAP) committee against an intake capacity of 21.98 lakh. Students allotted colleges can confirm their admissions until June 3.

Kolhapur division, comprising Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts, has 2,02,980 seats. Forms of 94,773 students were locked in the first round with 54,000 students allotted colleges based on merit. Kolhapur district saw a 1% drop in science and commerce (English medium) streams this year. For science, the cut-off was 93.08%, whereas for commerce, it was 93%. The admission process for the FYJC covers 291 junior colleges with 70,690 seats.

The Kolhapur division comprises the districts of Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. The total admission capacity for the division stands at 2,02,980 seats. Out of these, the admissions of 94,773 students were locked in the first round. 54,000 students have been allotted colleges based on their actual merit.

Admissions for 32,696 students in the district were locked in the first round. This includes 31,000 admissions across science (18,980), commerce (5,787) and arts (6,280). The first-round merit list was published on the admission portal at 11am on Friday.

Prabhavati Kolekar, deputy director of education (Kolhapur division), said admissions were confirmed for 30,000 students in the first round across the three streams. "Students must confirm admission to the allotted college by June 3, during which document verification and fee payment will be completed. Students must take admission only in the college allotted in the merit list. Those who did not receive an allotment as per their preference order may apply in the second round. The list of allotted students has been sent to all colleges for publication on their websites. The second-round schedule will be announced on June 5. No student should be denied admission due to missing documents. Colleges must grant provisional admission based on online printouts of mark sheets if original mark sheets are not yet available,” Kolekar said.
