Med camp for tribal kids held

Kochi: To address health issues of tribal children below 12 years, the district panchayat launched a project at Kuttampuzha on Saturday. As part of it, a health camp was held on the day. The district panchayat had announced the project in the budget for the current financial year.
District panchayat president Ullas Thomas said many tribal children were unhealthy due to lack of health check-ups and treatments. Lack of nutritious food is also a serious issue.
He said the project is to address all these problems and thereby reduce fatality among babies in the tribal community. In the initial stage, 200 children in Kuttampuzha panchayat will be examined. Health cards were given to the children tested at the camp.
Tribal development officer in Muvattupuzha has been entrusted with implementing the project. tnn
