KOCHI: A 32-year-old man was arrested by
Ernakulam Town
North police on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting and spitting on a woman.
The arrested person has been identified as
Shyam Kumar of Eramalloor in Cherthala. According to police, the complainant, a mother of two, used to reside in a rented house near the house of the accused at Eramalloor till a year ago.
The woman moved to Ernakulam after the accused started to bother her a lot, inebriated. Police said Kumar approached her when she was on her way to office and proposed to have a relationship with her on Monday.
When she refused, he allegedly assaulted her, pushed her on to the ground and spat on her. Following her petition, police tracked him down and picked him up from Ayyappankavu.
He was produced before the court and was remanded in judicial custody.
Inspector Sibi Tom, subinspectors V B Anas and T N Maitheen, and civil police officers Febin, Praveen, and Sreejith made the arrest.
