KOCHI: An incident of the forced landing of a helicopter of the Indian Coast Guard took place at Nedumbassery in Kochi on Sunday, an official source said.

The pilots of the force were testing the chopper when it had to make a forced landing.

According to sources at Nedumbassery, three officials of the Coast Guard were on the helicopter and one person sustained injuries.

He has been rushed to a private hospital in Angamaly for treatment, sources said. The incident happened at around 12.25pm.

Sources with the press information bureau (defence wing) confirmed the forced landing and said that a detailed statement would soon be issued.

The incident occurred within the operational area of the Kochi airport.

An airport official said that flights which were set to land at the airport have been diverted as the runway has been closed since the incident, for removal of the debris.

A detailed statement is awaited from Cochin International Airport Limited as well.
