Guv open Dr Vandana Das Memorial clinic

Kottayam: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan inaugurated Dr Vandana Das Memorial Clinic — built as a memorial by the parents for the house surgeon who was stabbed to death at Kottarakkara Govt Taluk Hospital — at Thrikkunnappuzha in Alappuzha on Thursday.
The clinic has come up in the native place of Vandana's mother.
During the inauguration, Khan said the entire state had mourned the loss of Dr Vandana. He commended the strength and resilience of her parents in overcoming their grief and establishing the clinic.
He said the clinic is the greatest tribute to Dr Vandana.
Union minister of state Suresh Gopi inaugurated a free medical camp and a prayer hall at the clinic.
MLA Ramesh Chennithala, who presided over the function, pledged to allocate Rs 15 lakh from his MLA fund in the upcoming financial year to support the renovation of the road leading to the clinic.
Thrikkunnappuzha panchayat president S Vinod Kumar said the road leading to the clinic would be named after Dr Vandana Das.
Oncologist V P Gangadharan, who spoke at the event, said cancer screening camps would be conducted in the clinic in the future.
