AMMA row: Ansiba Hassan files new police complaint against Tini Tom
Kochi: The turmoil within Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) has intensified as actor and former joint secretary Ansiba Hassan filed a fresh police complaint against executive committee member Tini Tom, accusing him of making communal and derogatory remarks against her in the committee’s official WhatsApp group.
The petition, lodged at Infopark police station, is the second legal action by the actor against her former colleagues on the executive committee. She previously petitioned the chief minister, home minister and state police chief against AMMA vice-president Lakshmipriya, accusing her of filing a fabricated case at Tripunithura women’s police station. She also named a sub-inspector, who reportedly subjected her to three hours of harassment, in that complaint.
Hassan already recorded her statement regarding that incident with Thrikkakara assistant commissioner of police.
Amidst the escalating tensions, Hassan rejected a mandate to appear before the current AMMA leadership. Last week, the association’s president and secretary issued a notice directing her to present evidence supporting her allegations. The leadership noted that the summons was prompted by internal complaints and public statements regarding member conduct and the handling of internal affairs.
Hassan, however, maintained that a fair trial is impossible under the current administration.
In her official response, Hassan proposed a three-member independent panel featuring Ramesh Pisharody, Dhyan Sreenivasan and Maala Parvathi. She also demanded that the proceedings be officially recorded to ensure transparency, given that her grievances involve AMMA’s top leadership.
