Kanpur: A land partition dispute within a family turned violent in Azam Nagar village under the Kampil police station area of Farrukhabad on Saturday night, when a 65-year-old woman was shot and seriously injured. Anita Devi, 65, wife of Kashmir Singh and a resident of Azam Nagar village, was shot late on Saturday night. Relatives alleged that her own family members attacked her over the land partition dispute. She was first taken to the Kaimganj Community Health Centre, where she received primary treatment and was then referred to Lohia Hospital due to her critical condition.
Anita Devi’s son, Karan Singh said a dispute over land partition had been going on in the family for the past several years. He alleged the dispute escalated over the past three days and that the police were informed, but no effective action was taken.
It was alleged that Anita Devi was fired upon with a country-made pistol by her brother-in-law. The bullet hit her in the back, leaving her seriously injured.
After receiving information, the police reached the spot and began investigation.
