Leopard kills 3 goats in one week in Etawah
Kanpur: A leopard allegedly killed three goats in three separate incidents over the past week in Dabha Musepura village under the Lavedi police station area in Etawah, triggering fear among residents. On the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, the leopard allegedly dragged away a goat from a hut, and killed it in a short span of time before the owner could react. Villagers later found the blood-soaked carcass in a field. In another incident eight days ago, another goat went missing and its carcass was found the next day. Three days ago, a third goat belonging to another individual was found dead near the fields. The repeated attacks created an atmosphere of fear in the village and surrounding areas, with villagers staying awake through the night to guard their livestock. They warned that if the leopard was not caught soon, it could attack a human as well. Villagers demanded that the Forest Department immediately dispatch a team to capture the leopard and increase patrolling in the area. Lakhna forest range officer, Pradeep Kumar, advised the villagers to keep their animals securely tied and avoid going alone into the ravines or fields. He said that a leopard travels up to 25 kilometres per day and cannot keep returning to the same village repeatedly. Despite this, a forest department team was searching for the leopard.
