High humidity leads to discomfort despite moderate temp in Kanpur
Rain Likely From Monday
Kanpur: Despite only a marginal increase in temperature, residents experienced uncomfortable weather conditions on Sunday as humidity levels remained high across the city.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 36.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled at 23.4 degrees Celsius. Although the temperatures were not significantly high, humid conditions made the weather feel warmer, prompting many residents to remain indoors during the day.
The maximum relative humidity touched 76 per cent, resulting in excessive sweating and discomfort for citizens. However, weather experts have predicted an improvement in conditions from Monday onwards.
According to the latest forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Kanpur Division is likely to witness increased thundercloud activity on Monday, accompanied by strong winds and the possibility of light rainfall. The department has also forecast a fall of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in temperatures during the current week.
While the expected change in weather is likely to provide relief from the prevailing heat, humid conditions may continue to persist.
Dr S Sunil Pandey, weather expert at CSA University, said that from Sunday evening till Monday morning there is a possibility of thundercloud formation, strong dust-laden winds and scattered showers in the region. He added that the changing weather pattern is expected to provide relief from intense heat conditions till June 3, 2026.
