Ensure uninterrupted power supply in both urban, rural areas: Dy CM
Jhansi: Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Monday reviewed development works and public services during a meeting with departmental officials here and issued necessary directions regarding drinking water supply, electricity, healthcare, roads, agriculture and revenue-related issues in the district.
Reviewing the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Deputy CM directed officials to repair damaged pipelines to resolve the drinking water crisis in affected areas. He also instructed Jal Nigam authorities to promptly restore roads damaged during pipeline laying work and ordered immediate steps to address water scarcity in the Kiledar Ka Purwa locality.
On electricity-related issues, Maurya asked officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply in both urban and rural areas. He directed the power department to repair faulty transformers on priority and immediately replace a damaged transformer at a cremation ground. He also instructed officials to fix loose electricity wires near Bilgaon and resolve issues linked to the Naraini Power House. Taking stock of healthcare services, the Deputy CM directed authorities to ensure the availability of a cardiology specialist at the medical college. He also asked officials to prepare a separate proposal detailing pending infrastructural requirements and demands of the institution.
Reviewing road and revenue matters, Maurya instructed the Public Works Department to begin repair work on the Kamasin-Rajapur road. He further directed officials to launch a campaign for resolving disputes related to rural pathways and to expedite complaints regarding illegal occupation of leased land.
On agriculture and cattle welfare, Maurya asked officials to free grazing land and cultivate Napier grass to ensure adequate fodder for stray cattle. He also emphasised that farmers’ grievances should be addressed on priority and that compensation and relief should be provided promptly to farmers affected by natural disasters.
Later, while speaking to the media, Maurya congratulated party workers over the BJP’s performance in West Bengal and urged them to begin preparations for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Responding to protests by the Congress over rising fuel prices, he alleged that the party was indulging in “dirty politics” during a period of global fuel crisis. He also reiterated PM Narendra Modi’s appeal for judicious use of natural resources, including fuel.
