JODHPUR: Pakistani migrants applying for citizenship will no longer have to slog around from office to office for the inquiry of forms and cause of delay in approval of their files. The entire process- from application for citizenship to issuance of the citizenship certificate- has now been digitalized.
“These people could now simply log on to the website of the home department and fill the form for citizenship online.
Not only this, after filing the form, they would also be able to check the status of their application online,” said the ADM (city) Jawahar Choudhary.
Once having filled the application form online, they would not have any need to inquire about the progress by appearing in any office in person. They will be updated regularly through the pending status of the file by SMS. Once processed, the certificate of citizenship will be issued online, which would be posted to the address given by the applicant in India.
Till now, the migrants eligible for citizenship had to fill the form offline and once filled, they never had any idea that what stage their form had been at and to know which, they had been left with no alternative than to keep visiting the office of FRRO and administration with no assured reply. In many such cases, the applicants had to fill the forms again and again afresh with no record of the formerly filled forms. According to Choudhary, all such forms which had been filled offline will be cleared soon, after which all the applications will be filled online.
In order to reduce the pendency of the application forms, the administration had held many camps in Jodhpur and after realizing the troubles and amount of pendency in clearance of the form, it was decided to digitalize the entire process. In these two camps, the administration had received 1,796 forms. Of these, 859 migrants have been granted citizenship and rest will be granted soon.
