HC grants Asaram bail in forged docu case

Jodhpur: Rajasthan High Court on Monday granted bail to self-styled godman Aasaram in a case pertaining to the alleged furnishing of forged documents in the Supreme Court to strengthen his prospects for getting bail. The HC directed him to furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties, each of Rs 25,000.
The bail, however, does not provide any relief to Asaram as he is serving life imprisonment since 2018 following his conviction for sexual exploitation of a minor student of his gurukul.
While granting bail, Justice Kukldeep Mathur observed that no direct role has been attributed to the petitioner in the creation of the forged documents.
