Slanging match between Dotasra, Dilawar in House
Jaipur: The Assembly Tuesday witnessed a heated exchange between Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra and school education minister Madan Dilawar during the debate on the governor's address.Dotasra alleged that Dilawar was more focused on public events and social media than on education reforms. "During a single religious event—Ram Katha in Kota, the education minister posted 81 tweets. But in 2 years in office, he did not even make 8 posts highlighting educational innovation or reform," Dotasra said.
Accusing the govt of presiding over a "collapse" of the education system, he warned the minister against damaging it. "Education minister ji, do not destroy education," he said. Dotasra alleged that teachers were diverted from classrooms for shockign reasons. "First, teachers were deployed to chase dogs, then they were put on duty at religious events," he said. He also alleged that nearly 1.75 lakh school enrolments had declined under Dilawar. Responding to the attack, Dilawar made allegations against Dotasra, claiming that teachers had earlier complained to a former chief minister that Dotasra took money as bribes. The remark triggered protests from Opposition members, forcing the Speaker to intervene and assure the House that the allegations would be expunged from the record.Dotasra dismissed the accusations, saying, "I don't take these allegations seriously," and added, "My grandfather used to say—never throw stones in mud, because they bounce back and fall on you."Dotasra further alleged that govt schools were in poor condition and lacked basic facilities. "Schools are dilapidated, the high court keeps warning you over safety of school students, and children at schools don't even have toilets," he said.
