JAIPUR: In a major breakthrough, the Rajasthan Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested three
Lashkar-e-Taiba men, who were all set to go to Pakistan for terror training. They were picked up from Bikaner on Monday and their interrogation proved that they were involved in anti-national activities, said sources.
The arrested are Babu alias Nishachandra Ali of Lalgarh in Bikaner, Arun Jain of Mahi Darwaza in Nagaur and Hafiz Abdul Majid of Jhalawar.
They had agreed to carry out terrorist activities, smuggling of counterfiet currency and incite communal tension in the country on behalf of Pakistan-based terrorists, said additional SP, ATS, Hemant Sharma, who is investigating the case.
According to reports, ATS had detained five youth from Bikaner and Jhalawar for suspected involvement in anti-national activities on Monday. They were brought to Jaipur on Tuesday for further interrogation. Out of them, three were arrested on Thursday.
It was revealed during their questioning that LeT commander Walid alias Vikki Bhai directed Pakistani spy Asghar Ali, who is lodged in Jodhpur Central Jail for the last ten years, to identify local persons and lure them for terrorist activities by offering money.
Ali managed to develop contacts with Babu alias Nishachandra Ali and Arun Jain for realizing their terrorist plans. He even encouraged them to undergo training in terror camps in Pakistan. But the duo could not get their passports due to their criminal background after which Ali decided to take them to Pakistan via Nepal.
It was also revealed during questioning that Hafiz Abdul Majid, a madarsa teacher of Jhalawar, and Kabil Khan came in contact with Pakistani terrorists Shahid Iqbal and Shakar Ullah alias Prince alias Qureshi in Nabha and Amritsar jails of Punjab. After coming in contact with them, Abdul Majid agreed to undergo training and conduct terror activities in the country.
