Jaipur: State BJP president Satish Poonia accused chief minister
Ashok Gehlot of targeting and torturing the majority community at dozens of places to appease their vote bank.
He was addressing the public at the concluding day of the first phase of Jan Aakrosh Yatra on Wednesday.
“In Karauli, Bhilwara, Udaipur and Jodhpur, the majority community were targeted and tortured in a planned manner. During the Hindu festivals and processions, stones were thrown by the extremists with Congress government support,” said Poonia.
He said that the government gave permission to the rally of the banned organisation PFI in Kota. “The government allowed hijab-clad women to appear in the competitive examinations while Hindu women were barred from wearing mangal sutra. These are not incidents in isolation, almost across the state, the government followed vote bank politics,” said Poonia, who walked for 25 kilometres in Karauli.
He said that second phase of the Jan Aakrosh Yatra will commence from December 15-31. During the period, the party will hold public addresses at all 200 assembly constituencies. “The JAY has received an overwhelming response from the people and has strengthened the party to the grassroots level. The suggestions and complaints received against the
Gehlot government will become the part of party’s manifesto,” said Poonia.
He also alleged that more than 18,000 farmers’ lands have been auctioned in the past four years. “They made a promise to farmers that their loan will be waived off, which turned out to be false. Farmers are in depression and many have committed suicide in the state,” said Poonia.
