Indore: Voters of the country’s cleanest city rejected the ‘broom’ as candidates of Aam Admi Party (AAP), which was initially eyeing to make a claim for the ‘third political front’ in Madhya Pradesh, failed to even save their security deposit in 32 out of its 34 wards while the party’s mayoral candidate somehow managed to get votes in five digits.
The Indore wing of AAP seems to have contested the civic body polls ‘half-heartedly’ as its candidates were largely ‘ignored’ in the fray while the contest remained between BJP and Congress at all 85 wards and mayoral post of Indore.

Result was also not surprising for the party as it failed to win any of 34 wards it had fielded the candidates.According to AAP state spokesperson Hemant Joshi, their candidates from Ward 68 and Ward 85 however managed to save their security deposit by receiving 1/6 i.e. 16.66% votes (as per the rules). It was not the case for the remaining 32 candidates and the party’s mayoral candidate Advocate Kamal Gupta, who had switched from Congress just before the urban body polls.
“We contested the elections with very limited resources,” Joshi said, adding that AAP will continue its fight against injustice and will keep raising issues concerning the people. TNN
