Man arrested with over 1 kg heroin from Ujjain railway station
Indore: Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), MP unit seized 1.067 kg of heroin and arrested one person involved in its trafficking at Ujjain railway station in a late-night operation.Acting on intelligence inputs by CBN Neemuch, indicating that a person would be transporting approximately 1 kg of illicit heroin through Shipra Express (Train No. 22911) towards West Bengal, a joint preventive team comprising officers from Neemuch, Ujjain and Indore offices of CBN was constituted and strategically deployed.Based on the inputs, the team identified and intercepted a suspect travelling in the general coach of the train carrying a hand bag at Ujjain Railway station.The suspect was escorted to the office of Railway Protection Force (RPF), platform No. 1, where a thorough search was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.During the search, officers recovered 1.067 kg of heroin concealed in two packets inside the hand bag carried by the accused.Preliminary investigation revealed that the contraband was being illicitly trafficked from Pratapgarh area of Rajasthan to Howrah, West Bengal, via the Indore–Ujjain route.The accused was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
