Cloudy skies push night temp up by seven notches, humidity troubles residents

Indore: A sharp rise in night temperature within just 24 hours brought back uncomfortable weather conditions in Indore, with residents facing increased heat and humidity despite cloudy skies over the city. The clouds failed to produce rain, resulting in a significant rise in the minimum temperature on Wednesday.

The city’s minimum temperature was recorded at 25.8 degrees Celsius, which was 7.2 degrees higher than the previous day. Just a day earlier, Indore had experienced one of its coolest June nights on record. The sudden rise in temperature led to humid conditions overnight and during the morning hours, causing discomfort to residents.

The maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 38.4 degrees Celsius, which was 2 degrees below normal but nearly unchanged from the previous day. By 5:30 pm, the temperature stood at 37.8 degrees Celsius, while the relative humidity was measured at 33 percent. No rain was recorded during the day.

Met officials said the absence of rain despite persistent cloud cover prevented temperatures from falling. Western winds continued to influence local weather conditions, with wind speeds reaching up to 38 kmph during the day.

Officials noted that the weather pattern was being driven by moisture-laden winds and local atmospheric instability. They also indicated that rain activity may weaken after the next two days. If that happens, skies could clear and residents may once again have to wait for the next spell of monsoon-related showers.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by rain in Indore over the following two days. Weather experts believe the expected rain could bring relief from the prevailing heat and humidity and lead to a drop in both day and night temperatures. After this spell there are chances of gradual rise in day temperature by two to three degrees.

The changing weather has kept temperature fluctuating sharply, highlighting the transition period before more consistent rain sets in across the region.
