Arambai Tenggol seizes 5 rare hog deer from nat’l park

Imphal: At least five hog deer were seized along with 200 animal trapping nets by Arambai Tenggol (AT) members and the state forest department during a joint three-day anti-poaching drive at Keibul Lamjao National Park (KNLP) in Bishnupur district.They also found nine carcasses of the endangered animals during the drive which ended on Sunday.Hog deer comes under Schedule I of the Wild Life Protection Act, and most of them are found at KNLP, the largest floating national park in the world.Appreciating the AT members for taking up the drive, range forest officer (KNLP) Bidyachandra appealed to people living in its vicinity to help conserve the rare animals there.
