Telangana assembly elections: ‘Threat to Congress leaders, increase security cover’
Cong’s Gudur Narayan Reddy(L) and Madhu Yashki after meeting DGP
HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee(TPCC) treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy on Monday demanded that security of top leaders of the party should be increased as there is threat to their lives.
Narayana Reddy along with former MP and AICC secretary Madhu Yashki Goud, and senior party leaders met Director General of Police(DGP) M Mahendar Reddy and sought to know the action taken by cops in connection with the attacks on Congress leaders on the eve of election and also on the polling day.

“The threat perception for Congress leaders in Telangana has increased. Especially in view of the attacks on Madhu Yashki Goud, K.S. Ratnam, Pilot Rohit Reddy and myself. We regret to say that the state police and the Security Review Committee (SRC) did not conduct any periodical assessment of threat to opposition leaders. It appears that the SRC, instead of working as an independent body, acted on the directions of ruling party and reduced the security of important leaders without any valid basis. The security of Congress leaders has been taken very lightly,” Narayana Reddy said in his representation to the DGP.
The Congress leader said that security of many important leaders was so inadequate that any anti-social element could walk into their offices, homes, or stop their vehicle mid-way and attack them. While appreciating the DGP for increasing security for TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy, Narayana Reddy urged the DGP to enhance security of all important leaders. He demanded that adequate security should also be provided for Vijayashanti and Madhu Yashki.
