Telangana attracts major green energy investments, targets 20,000 MW by 2030: Bhatti Vikramarka

Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said Telangana has secured investments ranging from Rs 80,000 crore to Rs 1 lakh crore in the green energy sector, with several companies already signing agreements with the state. He highlighted the state govt's comprehensive Green Power Policy aimed at providing affordable, pollution-free energy in the state."Despite global advancements in the energy sector, no dedicated policy was framed in this sector over the past decade. Telangana is now targeting 20,000 MW of green power by 2030 and 40,000 MW by 2040," Vikramarka said, speaking during the legislative council's question hour.The state plans to generate green power through solar, wind, green hydrogen, and other sources, he said, adding that approvals are being granted through a single-window system to attract investors. Additionally, incentives like stamp duty reimbursement and simplified Non-Agricultural Lands Assessment Act NALA conversion are being offered."With rising power demand, we are utilising govt-owned vacant lands, including those under the endowment and irrigation departments, for solar and floating solar power projects to meet the demand," Vikramarka said. He also announced a 1,000 MW solar power initiative in partnership with women self-help groups (SHGs) and Genco."The state govt is leasing vacant lands to SHG women to help them become industrialists, and the state will buy back the solar power they generate," he added.
