Hyderabadis sign petition for peace in Manipur

Hyderabad: Citizens of Hyderabad along with various social groups came together on Sunday to be part of a national campaign to pray for peace in Manipur. The people’s collective, Citizens Action for Manipur, organised a meditation session and poetry recital at an open cultural space where participants signed a petition to be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to put an end to violence in Manipur.Present among the many citizens were a group of 10 children from Rainbow homes for the children in distress. Krutima A, a 16-year-old from the home, shared her thoughts while creating a rangoli in the shape of the peace symbol. “I feel bad for the girls and boys from Manipur who are forced to suffer such setbacks in their education. Education is the basic foundation of all progress and without that children will lose their future,” the articulate teenager said.Ignatius Xavier, an artist from the city, painted the picturesque green landscapes of Manipur within the letter “M”. “I wanted to depict the mountains, the green of Manipur and at the same time depict the courage all women and mothers in the state have shown in the face of such gendered violence,” he said.The petitions signed by these like-minded citizens along with citizens from other states will be taken to the PM Modi for action.
