HC orders action on disqualification petition against Jubilee Hills housing society prez
Hyderabad: The Telangana high court, on Wednesday, directed the commissioner for Cooperation and Registrar of Cooperative Societies to take action on the disqualification petition filed against Jubilee Hills Cooperative Housing Society Limited president, B Ravindranath.
Ravindranath is a media baron and son of TTD chairman, B R Naidu.
The court's order comes following a writ petition filed by two members of the housing society who sought Ravindranath's disqualification on the grounds of him not being a member of the society. They had initially submitted a representation before the Registrar of Cooperative Societies in Sept and Oct, but there was no action.
On Wednesday, Justice T Madhavi Devi directed authorities to take action on the representation of the members within six weeks. The judge posted the matter for the next hearing.
In their petition, the society members alleged that Ravindranath got the membership in the name of his firm, which is in violation of the society bylaws. Terming his membership invalid, the petitioners stated that his contesting the election and holding the post of president was also, therefore, illegal.
Ravindranath, however, denied the allegations. "I became a member of the society by following due procedure and was also elected as the president lawfully through an election. These allegations are made by the members who were found to be involved in corrupt acts related to the society's activities," Ravindranath told TOI.
