Fired Manuu staff demand President Ramnath Kovind help
HYDERABAD: A former employee of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (Manuu), Mohd Aslam, who was learnt to have been terminated without any notice or reasoning, approached
Aslam along with two others, who were terminated as permanent drivers, also urged the authorities concerned to constitute a panel to probe the circumstances that led to their termination, transfer and suspension of those raising their voice against wrongdoings on the campus, embezzlement of funds and nepotism in appointments.
Aslam, a resident of Hafiz Baba Nagar in Old City, worked as a driver in the transport section along with Khaja Nizamuddin and Khaja Khutubuddin. The trio worked in the pay band of Rs 5,200-Rs 20,200. Aslam said they were appointed after due approval of the executive council of Manuu and the selection committee. “We beg you to re-look into the matter and have our services reinstated at the earliest,” Aslam said in his letter to the President.
Aslam said the varsity decision dealt a big blow on May 24 last year during the time when he had to look after his newborn baby and his aged mother, who was battling cancer. The sacked trio approached the court and submitted a writ petition (WP Nos 23192, 23323 and 23308 respectively) in the Hyderabad HC on July 13, 2017. But, the varsity has not filed a counter till now.
The three employees also approached Manuu chancellor Feroz Bakht Ahmed, urging him to look into this. Ahmed, who was appointed chancellor on May 17 this year, has been raising voice against alleged irregularities.
When asked about the termination of the staff, Ahmed said the decision was unacceptable. “I will fight till these three get justice. I have also written to Union HRD minister in this regard,” he added.
